Background
Setel Share is the first wallet sharing feature in Malaysia which is safe and secure to share with family
members. It is a highly requested feature which supports tracking, monitoring and budgeting with your
family.Members also can Share Mesra card and get up to 3x Mesra points to redeem rewards.

Objective
To educate how to share wallet with family safely and securely also to create awareness about why you need Setel Share for your family.

Target audience
All existing Setel and non-Setel users.

FAQs

1. What is Setel Share?

Setel Share is the first e-wallet sharing feature to be introduced in Malaysia, which allows users to share their e-wallet with their favorite people.  

• The existing rules will remain:

  • Users can only be in 1 Setel Share at any point in time

  • Maximum 2 members per Setel Share

Users are encouraged to use app v1.109.0, if the user has not downloaded then the user will still be using the old Setel Share features.

2. How to activate Setel Share?

Activate Setel Share by performing eKYC then invite at least 1 member.

a)Owner can directly add members who are existing Setel users to their Setel Share

• Members do not need to go to inbox to click accept invite anymore. Instead, members will still receive an app inbox message as a notification that he/she was added to Setel Share.

• The owner will see the member’s name on the home screen and also a success toast box (see below)

b) Owner can create an account for non-registered Setel users (see below)

a. Owner can click on “create”

b. Member’s name and phone number will be auto- populated. Owner just needs to click on “create account”

c. While pending member’s account activation. The owner can also rescind the invitation by clicking on the 3 dots → Delete account.

2. Once the Owner clicks on “create account”, a SMS will be sent to the Member (see below) and the member can go through a simplified registration flow (simplified means the member can skip the “introduce yourself” and “cardterus screen”)

3. Once the member clicks on the link, the member will be prompted to download the Setel app and proceed with a simplified registration process.

4. Once registration is complete, the member will see the tooltip in the app home screen “You are now in Ben Tan’s Setel Share…” and the member’s default payment method is set as Setel Share for fuel and pay with QR. Member will also receive the push notification and inbox message on being added to Setel Share

3. How many people can I invite to the Setel Share group?

You’re currently only allowed to invite 2 members to join your Setel Share due to safety purposes but this feature will be able to allow more members in future updates.

4. Can I use this feature to pay for items at  Kedai Mesra? 

Setel Share feature now only allows fuel purchase at the  moment. 

 5. As a member will I earn the Mesra points if  I use Setel Share for fuel purchase? 

No, All Mesra points earned through transactions under  Setel Share will be assigned to the Setel Share owner’s  Mesra Card. 

6. Can I delete a Setel Share group ?

Only the Setel Share owners can delete their Setel Share  group.

7. Who will earn the Mesra points gathered?

All Mesra points earned through transactions under  Setel Share will be assigned to the Setel Share owner’s  Mesra Card. 

8. How will Setel Share group owners get  notified? 

The Setel Share group owner will receive notifications for  all transactions via Setel Share in real-time on the Setel  app. 

9. Is Setel Share safe?

Yes, it is safe, because every transactions will require  PIN/biometric verification before proceeding. All of our business operations are regulated by the relevant  e-money regulators and guidelines which is safe &  secure for our customers.

10. Can I be a member in more than 1 Setel  Share group? 

No, users can only join one Setel Share group at a time. 

11. Can the Setel Share owner and member  see the payment history? 

Only the owner of the group can see all the transactions  made by all group members while the group members  will be able to see their own transaction history by going  to payment history. 

12. Can I leave a Setel Share group?

Only the Setel Share group owner may remove  members. If you’re a group member, you may ask the  group owner to remove you or alternatively, you may  send in a removal request via our customer support.

13. Can Setel Share be used by a non-Setel  user? 

No Setel Share owners will only be able to invite existing  Setel users to join their Setel Share. For non-Setel users,  they may download the app to join the Setel Share. 

14. What does it mean if an invalid invite  screen appears? 

An Invalid invite screen will appear when the owner cancels the invite, deletes the group or when the Setel  admin removes the member before the invitee is able to  join the group. 

15. As a Setel Share owner, is it possible for me to join another Setel Share as a member?

No, if you’re currently the owner of a Setel Share group,  you will not be able to join another Setel Share group as  a member.

16. Will a Setel Share transaction use my personal Setel Wallet linked to my own Setel account?

No, Setel Share uses shared wallet called Setel Share wallet, separate from a user’s personal Setel Wallet. As the group owner, do make sure your account has sufficient balance or you may opt for auto top up. As a group member, make sure to select ‘Setel Share’ as payment method when you refuel at PETRONAS stations via the Setel app.
