1. Summary

Disabling physical Mesra card redemption is a feature on Setel App, which allow user that have linked their physical Mesra card to their Setel account to be able to temporarily disable physical Mesra card swipe for redemption at the Outside Payment Terminal (OTP) or Inside Payment Terminal (IPT).

Disable & enabling physical Mesra card redemption is as easy as a flick of a switch!

2. Details

2.1. Background

The recent findings surrounding Mesra card is fraud due to card cloning that cause an unauthorised Mesra points redemption on customer’s physical Mesra card. This feature became crucial as part of the mitigation to stop the leakage related to card cloning.

2.2. What’s changed?

Added a toggle button, “Physical Mesra Card Redemption” inside Mesra Card section

To access this page;

1. Go to More -> Mesra card

Physical Mesra card redemption at the OPT/IPT is disabled

2.3. What do I need to see this?

This feature will only be available for customer that have already linked their physical Mesra card to their Setel account.

Steps on how to link your physical Mesra card to your Setel account below;

Step 1: On the App, go to More -> Mesra card

Step 2: Tap on Link Now at You can link & transfer points to the Setel app section

Step 3: Fill in the following details and tap on Link & Transfer to link your physical card

2.4 What happens if my Mesra card is virtual? Or if I have not linked my physical Mesra card.

You will NOT be able to see the toggle in the Setel app.

2.5. What happens when I toggle the Physical Mesra Card Redemption to disable?

Mesra points redemption via your physical Mesra card will be turned off temporarily. But the redemption of Mesra points via the Setel App is business as usual. Which means redemption of Mesra points can still happen for entry points below even if my toggle is disabled.

Allowed redemption:

1. Redemption via Mesra rewards via Setel App & Setel Web

2. Converting of Mesra points to Setel wallet balance

2.6 As a Customer Ops, can I disable redemption for the customer?

Yes, below are the steps to disable the physical card redemption in Setel admin portal. But customer can re-enable it via the Setel App.

Step 1: Go to Loyalty -> Members

Step 2: Search for the user and select the user from the listing.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Loyalty cards section to view the Point Redemption column.

Step 4: Toggle disable/enable of the points redemption for the customer.
