Merchant users and Setel tech ops will be able to perform manual charging through Setel Dashboard and Admin Portal after the release of sprint 1.97.0
2. Details
2.1 Before
When the users are stuck at the exit lane, the parking operator will write down the car plate number and exit time and then release the users by lifting the barrier gate manually. After that, the information will be sent to the CS team to check if the car plate number has an active session with Setel. The CS team will compile the list of users with active sessions and send it to Setel via email on daily basis. Setel tech ops will void the session, manual charge the customer and update the information of the parking session by using the endpoint. Explore the flowchart here.
2.2 After
Merchant users can manually charge Setel users at the exit lane when automated parking payment failed due to LPR not getting the correct vehicle number plate or parking system not sending Setel request to charge. In order to perform manual charging, merchant users will need to change the parking session status to Stopped. Explore the full flow here. We have also included the EPAN value for the parking sessions for the merchant users to able to do reconciliation easily.
The purpose of introducing the new status Stopped is to enable parking operator to self-serve. By doing this, we also prevent our ops from running into situation where users have insufficient wallet balance and we need to call them up to top up etc. There is a segment of users whom need to be asked to go management office - LPR reads the wrong vehicle plate during entry and therefore created parking session in wrong user account. Manual charging will not serve this segment of users.
2.3 Accessing the feature
Merchant users can view and edit the parking sessions.
2.3.1 How to stop a parking session?
Merchant users can choose Stopped from the dropdown. After Stopped is chosen, there are several fields such as Check-in, Check-out, Amount will appear below the Status field.

2.3.2 How to perform manual charge to users' Setel wallet?
After the status has been changed by the parking operator, the parking operator can now perform manual charge to the users' Setel wallet by clicking SAVE CHANGES and SUBMIT button on the confirmation dialog. If the users have sufficient wallet balance, the status of the parking sessions will be changed to stop and will be reflected on the parking session details page.
Once the session has been stopped successfully, the parking fee will be deducted from userโs Setel wallet and the loyalty points will be granted accordingly.
If the users have insufficient balance in their Setel wallet, the error banner will show up. The parking operator will need to ask the users to top up and try to manual charge the users again.
3. Release plan
The new status Stopped is targeted to be released on 1.97.0
