Introducing Setel Lite! a minimal and lighter version of Setel app that offers a seamless fuelling experience for Users who are in rural areas with bad internet connectivity, own lower-end devices and are less tech-savvy.

2.0 Details

2.1 When to only use Setel Lite?

Setel Lite app is smaller and lighter version of the Setel app. The app design with simplified interface that minimise data usage and works well on 3G networks. Hence Setel Lite app is suitable if

You are regularly having issue on phone storage capacity.
Your mobile device frequently having troubles to load apps or the app often crashes during mid performance.
Your mobile device often or easily runs out of battery after light to moderate app usage.
You frequently find yourself at weak network coverage area and/or your mobile device frequently runs out of network data.
You are a less tech-savvy person / elderly user, who needs an app just for fuelling purpose.

2.2 When to use both Setel & Setel Lite?

We recommended to use Setel Lite when

You find yourself in places with poor network conditions.
Your phone is on low phone battery and need to fuel your car.

Not to worry, you can always switch to Setel app using the same account login credential. However, do take note that you are not allow to login to both Setel app and Setel Lite app on the same time.

Logging into Setel app will automatically log out from Setel Lite if you are using the same account credential.

2.3 When to only use Setel?

When data plan, network connectivity, mobile device performance, low battery and storage capacity are no longer an issue, you can always try it out to install the Setel app and experience the one app to Setel all motorist needs - Refuel and pay for parking, shopping, motor insurance, charge EV, and more.

2.4 How do I install Lite app?

Setel lite is an independent android app, just like the main Setel app, but a lighter version. Users may download the app from Android Play Store.

2.5 What are the features in Setel Lite app?

With Setel Lite app, Users will be able to have a complete refuelling experience, just like in the main app.

Register for a new Setel account
Insert referral code
Top-up Setel Wallet via online banking and vouchers
Initiate fuelling and enjoy end to end flow up to viewing receipt
View payment history
Initiate chat during fuelling
View account details and change password
View Mesra card details
Mesra card activation and link physical card Lite App: Mesra card activation and linking
Redeem Mesra points
Use Family wallet as a payment method (only if you are a Family wallet member, you cannot setup family wallet on Setel Lite)

Following CANNOT be done via Lite app

Add Cardterus / or cardless smartpay / smartpay card as a payment method
Initiate Store purchase or Setel Pay
View deals, redeem vouchers
Access Deliver2Me, PRYSM Store, Parking payments, Insurance

Users need to use their main Setel app to perform the above.

2.6 How do I refuel using Lite app?

Refuelling is very similar to main app. Upon reaching a PETRONAS station and launching Lite app, station is detected. When Users launch the app outside of stations, app shows the nearest PETRONAS station. Users may navigate to the nearest station, via Waze or Google maps.

Further, User can choose pump number, choose a fuelling amount, confirm payment method and enter passcode to initiate refuelling. Users will not be able to fuel by litres.

Once initiated, Users will be able to see fuelling progress on their Lite app screens. Upon successfully completing refuelling, Users can see fuelling receipt for the purchase.

2.7 What if something goes wrong during refuelling?

Users may initiate chat during their fuelling process. All chats initiated from Setel Lite can be differentiated in Zendesk via Chat tags

2.8 Can I earn Mesra points for fuel purchases via Lite?

YES, Users can earn Mesra points. However they cannot convert them to wallet balance or purchase vouchers in Lite app. They need to use Main app for these use cases.

2.9 Can I activate Mesra card and link physical Mesra card via Lite?

YES, New users can activate Mesra card and link physical Mesra card via Lite .

2.10 Can I UPGRADE my wallet via Lite?

NO. users can only upgrade their wallet size via Main Setel App.

2.11 I have Cardterus added in main app. Do i have to setup Cardterus again in Lite?

Only Setel Wallet and Family Wallet (prev. known as Setel Share) are the supported payment methods. Users will not be able to use Cardterus as a payment method. Users may enjoy this very soon.

2.12 Can I have both Setel app and Lite app in my mobile and use alternatively?

YES. However when you login Lite app, you will be logged out of the main app and vice versa. At any point of time, you can be logged on to only one app. You may enjoy the features that respective apps offer.

2.13 Is this available for iOS?

NO. Setel Lite is a new app only for Android and Huawei users.

2.14 What more features can we expect to see in Lite?

Very soon, in the following months, Users will be able to

2.15 What is the minimum OS version to run Setel Lite?

Setel Lite supports on

Android OS version 4.4 and above
Huawei OS version EMUI 3 and above

2.16 What is the app file size in Play Store?

Setel Lite just require a minimum storage on mobile device as the APK file size design is up to maximum of 15 MB.

2.17 Can the app work with slow network speeds?

Yes, the app is design based on client-server interactions that minimise data usage and works well on 3G networks.

** internal notes: Above are planned in upcoming releases roughly across next 2 months. More features such as Pay in C-Store, Setel Pay are yet to be explored and planned in.
