Objectives
- To encourage cashless spending by youth;
- To lighten the burden on youth’s expenses
Eligibility
- Malaysians aged 18-20 years; OR
- Malaysians aged 21 and above full-time students in Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) (est. 2 mil individuals) Each eligible Malaysian can only get RM200 once from one chosen eWallet
Parameters
- RM200 from the Govt to be deposited into the chosen e-wallet, together with the 1:1 matching by participating eWallets in terms of cashback/promo vouchers* for all eligible users.
- E-Wallets to set a target for a number of MSME merchants to be onboarded for cashless adoptions.
- E-wallet credit for any physical transactions at the network of merchants through the chosen e-wallet, EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING:
- Peer-to-peer transfers & inter-account transfer;
- Cash-outs;
- App-integrated payment of utility bills;
- App-integrated payment of Government related fees/payments;
- App-integrated payment of telco postpaid bills and prepaid service top-ups;
- App-integrated games purchases;
- App-integrated parking and/or toll fees payments;
- App-integrated investment-related activities; and
- E-commerce or online transactions
This is part of the steps taken to support Malaysian brick-and-mortar retailers who are part of the Malaysian business community, especially SMEs.
