What is DuitNow QR Transfer?

DuitNow QR Transfer is a convenient way to send funds instantly anytime, anywhere by scanning the recipient's personal DuitNow QR code.

What are transferable and non-transferable balances?

Transferable balance

Transferable balance refers to the e-wallet balance coming from online banking, other e-wallets, or Setel cashback.
You can use your transferable e-wallet Balance to transfer money to:
- Local Bank
- Other e-wallets

Non-transferable balance

Non-transferable balance refers to the e-wallet balance coming from debit cards, credit cards (including auto top-ups), vouchers, government initiatives, or Mesra Points redemption.
You cannot use your non-transferable e-wallet Balance to transfer money.

Is there a fee for DuitNow transfers with Setel e-wallet?

No.

DuitNow transfers are free of charge.

My Setel e-wallet account is not verified yet, can I send money via DuitNow Transfer?

No.

You will need to verify your account/perform e-KYC to send funds via DuitNow Transfer.

To send funds via DuitNow Transfer, you will need to perform account verification/e-KYC.

Do I need to update the Setel app to use DuitNow Transfers?

DuitNow peer-2-peer transfer is only available on version 1.138.0 and above.

If your Setel app version is lower, you will need to update your Setel app through your respective app stores.

What is the maximum amount for DuitNow Transfers?

The maximum amount follows the monthly/annual limits of your account’s existing e-wallet limit.

How quickly will the recipient receive the funds?

DuitNow transfers are processed in real-time, and the recipient should receive the funds almost instantly.

Can I cancel or reverse a DuitNow transfer?

Once a DuitNow transfer is initiated, it's not possible to cancel or reverse the transaction.

Make sure to double-check the recipient's details before confirming the transfer.

How can I ensure that I've scanned the correct DuitNow QR when initiating a transfer?

Once you've scanned a DuitNow QR, the name of the registered account holder will be displayed.

You must check that the name that appears is the intended recipient before proceeding to confirm the transfer.

Can I view the transaction history of my DuitNow transfers in the Setel e-wallet app?

Yes, you can view your DuitNow transaction history within the payment history of the Setel app. It provides a record of all your past transactions for your reference.

What should I do if a DuitNow transfer made through Setel e-wallet is not reflected in the recipient's account?

In case of any discrepancies or delays, please e-mail us at hello@setel.com for further assistance. Please include the transaction details in the email to speed up the process.

If my Setel e-wallet account is suspended, can I still transfer money via DuitNow Transfer?

If your Setel e-wallet is suspended, you will be unable to transfer funds via Duitnow Transfer.

Will I receive any notifications on the status of payments received via DuitNow Transfer?

Yes

An in-app notification will be sent for all successful DuitNow Transfer transactions if your notifications are enabled.

You can change the app’s notification settings in your phone settings.

I am a foreigner. Can I use the DuitNow Transfer feature?

Currently, account verification is required to use the DuitNow transfer feature, and verification is only available for Malaysians with a Malaysian identity card.

We are working to bring this feature to those with international passports soon. Stay tuned!

Can I use DuitNow for international transactions?

No.

Currently, DuitNow is only available for transfers within Malaysia.

Can merchants scan my Setel personal DuitNow QR code?

Unfortunately, this function is not supported yet.

To complete a DuitNow QR payment to the merchant, you will need to scan the merchant's QR code instead to allow the deduction to happen in your Setel account.

I can’t scan my personal DuitNow QR. What should I do?

Please update your Setel app to the latest version and give it camera access. You will not be able to scan if the app does not have camera permission.

Do note that the following QR codes are not supported at the moment:

Dynamic QR code
Bank money transfer QR code

Do I get any Mesra points or cashback when I transfer to another personal DuitNow QR code?

No. Transfers to personal DuitNow accounts are not eligible for Mesra points or cashback.
